What makes a great, successful home business owner? Are there characteristics and qualities that make it more likely that a person will succeed at their home business? I thought it might be fun to share our opinions and ideas about what sort of qualities make for the perfect home business owner?
When I think about this, I think of all the qualities that I DON’T have and wish I did. I wish that I was more creative and had unlimited amounts of energy. I also wish that I was a better networker. We all know those people who seem to just know EVERYONE and know what is going on; those great “connectors” who seem to be able to pull people from all different walks of life together? I know that I think that would be a great quality to have and one that would be incredibly beneficial to a home business operation.
I think that persistence is a must for any small business owner, but particularly a home business owner. We just have to be able to stick with it through the thin, tough times as we build and grow our businesses. I also think a healthy sense of humor and the ability to let go of those things that really don’t matter are qualities that a home business owner can really use.
Reasonable organizational skills and the ability to multi-task are good personal qualities to have, but I think those can be over-rated. Some of the most successful people I know have messy desks and trouble figuring out where they left their car keys.
What do you think are the desirable qualities of a home business owner? What characteristics to you think are a must-have for anyone wanting to make a good go at running their own home business.
