Are They In or Out of Rehab?

Today, guessing correctly if a celebrity is in or out of rehab has become a bit of a game, thanks to Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan. The whole media circus following these two has reduced them to merely being famous for being famous. Do you actually remember Britney’s last hit? Yeah, me neither.

So today, we are going to play the “Are They In or Out of Rehab” game. Let’s see how you do:

Britney Spears

Well, as of the latest report, Britney is now out of rehab…again. Earlier this week, it was reported that she entered and left rehab within one day. Yesterday, her manager Larry Rudolph said, “Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into an undisclosed rehab facility. We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time.” However, “The Insider” is reporting that early today, she left the Promises Malibu Treatment Center. At this rate, she may get the help she needs, in oh, about 100 years.

Rehab Status: Out

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay entered into the Wonderland Center in Hollywood Hills in January and she was released February 16th after a 30-day stay. Of course, the media reported that that night, she was at Hollywood hotspot Teddy’s. Call me crazy, but I don’t think you should celebrate leaving rehab by going to a bar.

Rehab Status: Out

Robert Downey Jr.

After many years of going through the revolving door of many rehab programs, Robert was finally sentence to jail time. His last arrest for being under the influence was in 2001. He has been clean and sober since and has returned to acting. I have to cut Robert a bit of slack – he’s been quoted as saying his father introduced him to marijuana at the age of eight.

Rehab Status: Out

Tom Sizemore

Another proverbial Hollywood bad boy, Tom has certainly had his issues with drugs. Like Downey, he showed great acting ability, but he too went to rehab many times. In fact, this time last year, he was ordered to return to rehab for methamphetamine abuse. And he was in rehab in 2003. He too did jail time. Right now, he is not in rehab, but if you’ve watched his VH1 show, “Shooting Sizemore,” you can see what a day to day struggle it is to stay clean. Hopefully, he will be able to stay clean and start putting in great performances again like he did in Saving Private Ryan.

Rehab Status: Out

Leif Garrett

The former 70’s teen idol never seemed to be able to get over losing girlfriend Nicolette Sheridan. Add to that the fact that he was driving the car under the influence the night it crashed, which resulted in his best friend, Roland Winkler, becoming a quadriplegic, and you have a recipe for drug use. After a January 2006 arrest for heroin possession, Garrett chose to do jail time in May 2006 because the drug treatment center he was in was “too strict,” his lawyer said. I really couldn’t find any info on Leif since then, but having always liked Leif, I hope he has gotten his life together.

Rehab Status: Out

Courtney Love

Another habitual abuser, Courtney seems to make a habit of getting her act together, then falling apart again. In 2003, she was in Wavelengths live-in in Malibu. She even lost custody of her daughter (which she didn’t regain until 2005). She missed a court appearance in July 2004 (for breaking into her boyfriend’s house) and later that month was sentenced to rehab. By September 2005, she was ordered to rehab again by the court.

Now, it seems as if Courtney is at a clean stage in her life again. She was even credited with helping Whitney Houston by recommending her addiction coach, Warren Boyd.

Rehab Status: Out

I know I’ve missed a few repeat offenders. Charlie Sheen is currently sober and doing well on “Two and a Half Men.” However, Nicole Richie was arrested on December 11, 2006 for driving under the influence. She later admitted to having used marijuana and Vicodin, but as of now, she isn’t back in rehab.

I think rehab can be wondeful for someone who has addictions, but I think you first need to take is seriously and be ready to try to help yourself.
