Are You an Apple or a Pear? Part Two

Yesterday we discussed being pear shaped. Pear shaped women carry more of their weight on the lower portion of their body. They gain weight easily and often are at risk of emotional disorders due to weight gain or more prone to eating disorders. They are also more prone to varicose veins and osteoporosis. I am a pear shaped woman so these discoveries were not cheery thoughts. However, keeping your weight under control and maintaining and active lifestyle can reduce these potential issues.

Today, I want to discuss apple shapes. Now, there are other body types such as hourglass, but the most common are the pear and apple so for right now this is where we will focus. Apple shaped women have a tendency to carry more weight in the torso or above the waist area. As we learned, pear shaped women had more subcutaneous fat which is fat just under the surface. Apple shaped women have more visceral fat.

What you should know about being apple shaped?

As stated, you should know that apple shaped women carry the dangerous type of fat. Visceral fat is deep fat that surrounds the organs usually in the stomach. This type of fat is dangerous. It can lead to diabetes, stroke, heart attack, and high blood pressure. Keeping on visceral fat is a serious risk to your health. It is important to use exercise as a means to burn this fat off as even a few inches off the waist can decrease your risk to some diseases by 50%.

What can you do if you are apple shaped?

Adding in aerobic exercise to your daily routine is essential to losing visceral fat. You only need to add in thirty minutes a day to effectively lose the weight you. In addition, eating a fiber rich diet can help by lowering your insulin and cholesterol levels. An apple shaped woman needs to be aware of blood sugar levels as her risk of diabetes is increased.
