Are You an Oversharing Mom?

When it comes to social media, are you an oversharing mom? In other words, do your posts and pictures constantly feature your children? Are you always bragging about them?

Well if you are a new mom, you just might become the victim of “UnBabyMe,” a tool on Facebook that will eliminate photos of your precious bundle of joy. Users who download this tool can swap out pictures of babies with other photos of their choosing.

As of this writing, there are almost 30,000 users who are enjoying the ability to clear out baby pictures. Personally, I love to see pictures of babies. And I can’t help but wonder why there is such a focus on the little ones. There are lots of other pictures that are probably overshared.

All of this got me thinking about how easy it is to become an oversharing mom. This is your chance to tell the world how great your kids are or show terrific they look. But can it be overdone? Definitely.

I have been on both ends. I have rolled my eyes when I saw yet another posting about someone’s kid. Yet I might be an offender myself, even as recent as the past couple of weeks when my son who left for basic training was the frequent topic of my posts and pictures.

Honestly, I do try to keep a balance. No one cares that my child got on the honor roll. And they likely don’t give a hoot if they scored the winning point in a game.

Yet I think there are some things that others enjoy hearing about. Because let’s face it, moms like to know what is going on with other moms.

Aren’t most of us a little curious about what other families are doing? Okay, let’s call it what it really is…nosiness. Some of us are just plain nosey and are looking for something to talk about.

What about you? Are you an oversharing mom?
