Are You Still Working on Your Goals?

It is nearly the halfway point for the year. At this point I usually take a few minutes and step back to see my progress on my yearly goals. I have not actually sat down and looked at my goals yet, but I am pretty sure that I am not quite on track with most of them. Okay, so I really tossed them out the window a few months ago. I have my reasons—a new baby, my oldest son’s illness and just adjusting to all the changes in my life. However, this does not mean that I am giving up on my goals. It is time to make some judicial adjustments.

My husband feels that I am incredibly dorky since I really feel more a purpose when I have written down my goals and posted them somewhere. Actually I took a lot of flack for that in college as well. So while I do often have the best of intentions, I don’t always have enough follow through. Sometimes I realize that I am doing enough by treading water, other times I know that I need to move forward.

In the next few days I am going to make the time to take out my goal sheet and choose which goals really matter to me now and which ones I can work on at a later date. Then I will break these goals down in smaller steps and begin to work on the smaller steps. I am also going to work hard to set up a routine. This always helps my family to accomplish the things that I want to.

If you have fallen off the goal wagon, then this is a great time to take a few moments to assess where you are and want you want to accomplish and climb back on. The great thing is that you can always work on improving yourself. It doesn’t matter where you start or how much you accomplish, as long you keep on going forward one step at a time.
