What’s better than a massage? How about an aromatherapy massage!
Aromatherapy is the alternative medicine practice of using essential oils (made from volatile plant materials) to help your mental and physical health. Examples of essential oils include tea tree, sandalwood oil, lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, clove, and sweet orange.
Aromatherapy message is the practice of using essential oils during a massage. While you can perform this at home, there are also professionals that can use just the right essential oils to help improve your attitude and maybe even your health.
If you try it at home, don’t apply too much pressure. The massage should feel good and firm, but not painful. Avoid the any areas that might be infected or injured. If a person has special medical needs, like they have been diagnosed with blood clots or are pregnant, you should probably refrain from a home massage and get them a certificate to visit a trained professional.
If you do give a home massage with essential oils, always dilute them with a carrier oil. If you are trying to rid someone of stress, you might use an oil recipe that consists of 1 ounce of carrier oil (sweet almond is a good example) mixed with 15 drops of clary sage, 10 drops of lemon, and 5 drops of lavender. If you are massaging sore muscles, mix the 1 ounce of carrier oil with 3 drops of ginger, 2 drops of black pepper, 5 drops of peppermint, and 5 drops of eucalyptus. After you mix the oils, you can store them in a dark airtight container.
If you are going to choose a professional aromatherapy masseuse, feel free to ask them any questions you may have. A good masseuse will be happy to answer any questions you have. Some may use candles during the massage to help making it a more relaxing experience. If you ask what ingredients he or she uses, the masseuse should be glad to tell you and allow yout to even see the bottles to read the labels if possible.
While a massage is a great way to relax and rejuvenate, consider having an aromatherapy massage to help enhance the experience.
