If you have a home that is so immaculate that you can run a white glove over any object at any given time and it comes out clean, this article is not for you. If this describes you –and your house is that way on your own efforts and you do not employ a cleaning service or housekeeper- then this article really isn’t for you.
The rest of you, come on and admit it, your home has had at least a few dust bunnies at some point in time. I know I’m not the only one. I just never realized quite how bad it had gotten until we signed up for new satellite TV service, and we had to move furniture so the serviceman could get behind it to hook up our new receivers.
Now, I do dust and vacuum (as far as I can reach) but I’m not Wonder Woman. I can’t move the entertainment center by myself to clean behind it. When we pulled it out a few feet to make things easier for the DirecTV guy, I was pretty surprised to see the amount of dust.
That must be why they call those blobs of dust “dust bunnies,” because they multiply like rabbits when you move furniture. I was glad I decided to move everything the day before the serviceman came out. I would have been quite embarrassed by those bunnies!
There are some ways to help repel dust in those hard to reach areas. One is to clean thoroughly; using the vacuum if necessary, and making sure you’re not just moving dust around. Another is to hit surfaces with a dryer sheet after cleaning to get rid of static electricity, which attracts dust.
