Thank you for joining us for part two of our talk with author Anita Hackley-Lambert. If you missed part one, click here to catch up.
Anita, you have dreamed of writing ever since the age of twelve, when you penned your first book about the abuse you suffered as a child. Will you ever publish that book, or was it written more as a journal to help you cope with your emotional ordeal?
Writing was great therapy. At that tender age, keeping a diary was important but not feasible with the prying eyes of nosy siblings. I kept my notes hidden in a secret place in our attic. At twelve, I completed my first unpublished manuscript, “Nowhere to Run.” My sixth grade English teacher told me that other than grammatical errors, it was a good story and I should pursue publishing it. I have always wanted to publish this book but did not want to hurt those innocent. That was then.
My plan is to rewrite my story and publish it under a new title, although I may decide to use the original as the subtitle. My hope is to begin the rewrite after completing several works in 2008.
I notice that you started your own publishing company and produced your book “F.H.M. Murray” through it. How has the publishing experience been for you?
My first book was produced through my company, HLE Publishing (a subsidiary of HLE, Inc.) but printed by BookSurge. Due to the enormous cost and disappointment encountered with BookSurge, I realized I needed to have my own publishing company. Having learned much, I did my research and acknowledged the benefits of doing it all myself. Not only that but I realized that other writers could benefit from my services and save themselves a lot of trouble.
I am pleased to announce that in 2008, HLE Publishing will present no less than 6 new books to the public. If possible, the number of new releases could increase. I am excited to be able to publish my own works but even more excited to do it for others.
You have three works scheduled to come out in 2008. Can we have a sneak peek of what they are, and when will they be released?
My current working title is “Barry A. Murray: Biography in a New Dimension.” This remarkable legacy parallels that of F.H.M. Murray, the great grandfather he never met. In addition, my other two works-in-progress are untitled. Both are non-fiction and something I believe readers will enjoy. I want to keep them confidential at the moment but promise to release more information over the coming months.
Just know that my writing schedule is full. I hope to produce more books from my 12 new writing projects that include such genres as autobiographical, biographical, inspirational, true supernatural encounters, suspense, and fiction. You can visit my website for upcoming details.
Thank you for sharing your time with us, Anita. We have enjoyed learning more about you and your work.
Be sure to visit Anita’s website, and also be sure to check back here on Monday, when I will review Anita’s book about F.H.M. Murray.
