Today we are joined by F.M. Meredith, (also known as Marilyn Meredith) author of “Smell of Death,” reviewed yesterday. F.M., we’re so glad you could be here.
You write the Rocky Bluff P.D. series, of which “Smell of Death” is the
fourth installment. What are the titles of your other books, and can you give us a brief synopsis of each?
“Final Respects” is the first in the series, and it focuses on Doug Milligan and his best friend Al Bertalone. Both men are good policemen. The big difference between the two is their wives. Doug’s wife hates the fact her husband is always in danger, Al’s wife is totally supportive. When Doug’s babysitter is murdered, everything falls apart–for Doug and Rocky Bluff.
Lt. Tom Gilbreath, called ‘the old hound dog’ behind his back, is the one who often has to deliver bad news. In “Bad Tidings,” he gets some of his own. His wife often knows as much about what is going with Rocky Bluff P.D. as her husband, and she knows even more about the other officer’s private lives. Two murders bring chaos to the beach community and keep Lt. Gilbreath busy as he faces his own crisis.
“Fringe Benefits” is about a very bad cop who plans the perfect murder–of his wife, a bumbling officer with an unfaithful wife, and a teenager with big problems.
All these books are available on my website.
Your stories are about crime and death, yet I notice they aren’t as graphic as other detective novels. Can you tell us a little about that?
Maybe I don’t put all the gory details in because I’m not that thrilled to read about them myself. I love scary movies, but I’ve never liked seeing all the blood and gore. Most readers have good imaginations.
I appreciate the fact that you don’t rely on gore to sell books, F.M.
We’ll continue our conversation with author F.M. Meredith tomorrow. In the meantime, you can visit her website and learn more about her.
