Packing List Amnesia Part II

I’m a list girl and that’s why I wanted to provide you with a short packing list. Actually, this helps me too since I tend to overpack. Do you do this? I stuff my suitcase fearing a random snowstorm even if I’m just visiting my Grandma in West Palm Beach, Florida. If I’m on a weekend ski trip to New Hampshire I worry that a heatwave might roll in so I pack shorts. Here’s a step in the right direction. I’m not saying this is perfect but I’ve found, it’s easier to edit than start from scratch. Do you have … Continue reading

Steal Away to Stowe, Vermont

Vermont is the only place I know where strangers wave at each other on purpose. In Massachusetts, they don’t wave with the whole hand. So it’s nice to get away to a sleepy town, a ski town that offers visitors just as much in the summer as they do in the winter. Why not visit Stowe Vermont, a lovely town that has tons of things to do for singles, couples and families? Whether you want to see Moss Glen Falls, a waterfall and swimming hole or perhaps take the Gondola at Stowe Mt. resort for lunch at the Cliff House … Continue reading

Packing List Amnesia, Part One

Planning a trip with kids and babies is equivalent to designing blueprints for the NASA space shuttle. Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids and traveling with them is a lot of fun once we arrive. However when it comes to packing, I’m the worst. And hopefully I’m not alone. I wish I were one of those women who used vacuum packing bags so I can pack for eight and still have room for my vcr. I’m more of a passionate packer that flings my clothing into the suitcase. I always forget something. One time at a hotel, I … Continue reading

Trapp Family Lodge Part II

There is so much to do at the Lodge, you have many choices. There is a documentary film, shown twice daily called, The Real Maria, that tells about her life in Austria. The gift shop offers beautiful Vermont items as well as books and music. I chose to use our trip to relax. The massage I booked was divine, firm and thorough from head to toe. The table was warm tucked away in a private, quiet room. Along with being writer, I’m also a Licensed Massage Therapist so I can honestly recommend their massages. Harry, my husband, normally doesn’t want … Continue reading

Romance your Senses at the Trapp Family Lodge

Condensation rolled down the pewter pitcher of cream. Our waiter used phrases like, “Pardon me”, “Allow me to slip away” and said, “Would the lady care for more wine?” Our warm breadbasket overflowed with four types of rolls and breadsticks. It’s been three years and I still remember our visit to the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT. It was blissful and indulgent despite the fact that we brought Riley, our 11-month-old son. (At dinner Riley was two floors above us with the hotel babysitter. More on that in a minute.) Described as “A Mountain Resort in The European Tradition … Continue reading

York Beach Maine, A Great Escape

York Beach Maine, A Great Escape York Beach, Maine is one of my favorite vacation spots. It’s an hour from Boston, easy to find (off Route 1) and it’s a family friendly town with tons to do. It’s such a charming place, you’ll forget all about home once you arrive. Just park your car at the hotel and it might be days before you climb back in it again. I highly recommend, The Union Bluff Hotel that sits atop a hill with stunning views of the sea. The staff is friendly and there’s a restaurant on the first floor with … Continue reading
