An Environmentally Friendly Wedding

Our society in many cases is trying to become more environmentally aware. Several organizations are placing an emphasis on supporting and encouraging acts that are good for the environment. One very common phrase or logo that can be heard or seen in magazines is “go green”. I have both heard this phrase on the radio and seen it in print. In most cases I think about not polluting, recycling, and planting trees. I had never thought about how a wedding may tie in with the logo until I came across a recent article stating that there were actually environmentally conscious … Continue reading

Revenge Affairs

All across the Families.com board, writer and readers have commented on couples, mistrust, and affairs. Various different types of affairs and affair types have been talked about. Cheating is one of the biggest forms of mistrust that a partner could ever commit in a relationship. Being cheated on and feeling the consequences of broken trust can be a very heartbreaking experience. Every person may react to this experience in a different way. Some people are devastated emotionally. Others become angry and some become withdrawn. During these times, some look for ways to get revenge and hurt their mate the way … Continue reading

Cadet Kelly

Hillary Duff is known for her own sitcom series Lizzie McGuire. However in addition to this commercial sitcom geared toward children, Hillary Duff also has other screen debuts. One of which can be seen on the Disney channel in Cadet Kelly. Duff stars as an only child of divorced parents. She attends an art school and has a very free and non structured spirit. She lives with her mom and adores her dad who is a nature photographer. All is great in Kelly’s (Duff’s screen name) until she discovers that her mom is getting married. High Schools: Back to One Path?

As most know, students are being required to do more and more at an earlier age and grade level. Higher standards and skills are being required of students at earlier ages than ever before. Students are being asked to identify what they want from their future at an age as early as seventh grade. In many cases, students are asked to determine whether or not they will attend college. Students who attend college are required to take more and different high school courses than students who are not planning to attend college. However this may change for some students. It … Continue reading

Buried in the Middle

Courtney has had a couple of interesting articles lately that I would like to touch base with. In one of her more recent articles she describes how she and Wayne have talked about their funeral arrangements. No one really likes to discuss their partner or any of their other loved ones passing away. However, it does happen and knowing the wishes of one another is a good idea. In her article Courtney discussed how one of her friends brought it to her attention that although she has things planned out for her and Wayne, a new wife for Wayne may … Continue reading

When a Friend Hits on You

It is so exciting to have Courtney back writing! It is great fun for the two of us to get to relate to the articles and comments of one another. Recently Courtney has been discussing the sticky situations that friends can get into when they begin discussing relationships. She talks of telling friends that husbands are cheating and how to handle it when a friend’s husband flirts. I would like to take this situation into a little different direction. What happens when it is one of you and your mate’s mutual friends that flirts with you or propositions you with … Continue reading

More Questions to Help Relate to Your Child

One of my previous articles began discussing how many parents become frustrated with their children and how their children respond to school and teachers. Many parents comment on how they cannot understand their children and their actions. However I think that if they truly think about it hard enough they can relate to their child’s actions. Most parents have been through the same actions and behaviors as their children; however they have forgotten what it was like. I began offering some thoughts for parents to consider when they try to relate to their children about school issues. It may even … Continue reading

How to Relate to Your Child about School Issues

I have seen many parents frustrated about their child’s performance and attitude toward school. Many parents come to teachers, principals, and counselors and questions how to encourage or relate to their child about school issues. School is being soon and there is no doubt that many more parents will be facing this dilemma of how to get him or her to do well in school, enjoy school, or do homework. One of the best ways to parents to relate to their children about school issues is for parents to understand what their child is going through. While most children do … Continue reading

More Tips for Dealing with Students

The last article that I published began listing some ideas for teachers and parents about dealing with children. In many cases, teachers and parents can use the same guidelines and rules when it comes to being teachers and parents. Below are some more tips and ideas for how to relate to children and get the results that you want from them. Let the child have some credit. Some children argue with teachers and other adults because they want to have more independence. If the argument is taking place in a classroom setting, the child may continue even if he or … Continue reading

Cons of Living Together

In a previous article I discussed how many couples are now choosing to live together with one another before marriage and sometimes never marry at all. Living with your partner can tell you much more about him or her than dating. Many couples feel that living together gives them a trial run before marriage. However others feel that living together is inappropriate and is against their values and morals. I listed some positive aspects and benefits of living together in the last article. Now that you know all of the pros that can come from moving in with your mate, … Continue reading
