Surviving Spring Break at Walt Disney World

Though the weather may not be the best indicator, spring is finally here. Soon, school will be letting out for a brief break before the rush to summer vacation begins. For many families, this means that a Walt Disney World spring break vacation will soon be upon them. Of course, you may notice a particular word in that last sentence: many. That’s right. Your family won’t be the only one cruising down South for the spring vacation. Nope. You and a thousand other families. Not to mention teenagers and college students who are making their own spring break memories within … Continue reading

Two New Restaurants for Walt Disney World

Have you ever noticed the lack of restaurants in Animal Kingdom? Perhaps it’s just me, but there seems to be a lack of restaurants in the park that actually allow you to have a nice, comfortable meal whilst taking a rest. With the exception of Restaurantosaurus and Rainforest Cafe (which actually lies just outside the gates of Animal Kingdom), there’s little to choose from when you find yourself hungry. Granted. There are a few quick stops such as Flame Tree Barbeque and Pizzafari, but in comparison to Walt Disney World’s other parks, there’s simply little to choose from in the … Continue reading

Where In The World Is “Song of the South”?

There are very few movies that have caused me to spring forth tears like a fountain in the middle of Epcot Center. However, those few are there and they range all over the gamut of genres. One such film was Song of the South. My Mom took me to see this film when I was probably 7 or 8, just as she took me to see most Disney re-releases: fresh in the theatre. As a child, I fell in love with the character of Uncle Remus. I wanted to talk to him and hear his stories for myself. When little … Continue reading

Review: The Kingdom Keepers by Ridley Pearson

For awhile there, if you wanted to return to the magic of Walt Disney World, you either had to buy a plane ticket for a return trip (not that anyone would complain, mind you) or be satisfied with the photos in the souvenir book you had purchased upon your last visit. Now, there are dozens of ways to bring that Disney magic home with you. From Travel Channel documentaries to DVDs, now you have only the dilemma of choosing which way to re-ignite the memories of your last trip. However, as Disneyland and Walt Disney World grows older and more … Continue reading

Ratatouille To Be Next Pixar Feature Film

Ever since Disney and Pixar merged in one of the most talked about mergers in entertainment industry, fans have been wondering what would be the next film to come from Disney. That film appropriately stars a rat, though perhaps not the rat that first comes to mind when you think, “Disney.” Ratatouille will become the eight animated feature film produced by Pixar. Scheduled for release on June 29, 2007 and directed by Brad Bird, who directed The Incredibles for Pixar and The Iron Giant, the film will follow a rat named Ratatouille who lives in an upscale French restaurant. Disney … Continue reading

Staying at Disney’s Value Resorts: All Star Movies, Music, Sports & Pop Century

When my family began taking our first Walt Disney World vacations, we always stayed off-site. At the time (early 80s), there wasn’t but a few Disney resorts and it seemed cheaper to stay at a nearby Maingate Quality Inn (our standard at the time). Even today, there are many families that continue to believe the same thing; that staying at a Disney Resort is too expensive and completely out of the question for anyone traveling on a budget. One of our resident bloggers, Lisa Pietsch, has already covered how to save by staying at the various Value Resorts that Disney … Continue reading

Disney Shopping To Stop Catalog Production

If there was one catalog I looked forward to receiving in my mailbox, it was Disney’s merchandise catalog. I’ve bought numerous gifts through the catalog and, yes, maybe one or two treats for myself. The full color catalog contained not only the standard merchandise found at Disney Stores worldwide, but also featured tons of items that aren’t available through Disney’s retail outlets. Now, I’m sad to report that Disney Shopping will discontinue its full color mail catalog and rely solely on their merchandise website, http://www.disneyshopping.com. While many business analysts stress that this is merely a sign of the times and … Continue reading

Walt Disney World Opens “The Princess Room” For Your Little Princess

When I was little, like many other little girls, I dreamed of being one of those glamorous Disney princesses. Of course, in the 70s and early 80s, there was very little available outside of borrowing Mom’s shoes and making magic wands out of aluminum foil. Now, of course, there’s a plethora of items available at retailers from Wal-Mart to Macy’s that can help in making any little girl’s transformation into a princess complete. However, imagine you’re somewhere around 3 to 12 and you have your own princess makeover consultant. While it might sound a little “out there”, coming in April, … Continue reading

Disney World Guest Hurt in Accident

I debated over whether or not to approach this as, in the past, many of the on-site injuries reported in the news wind up being overblown or of no fault to the park itself. However, I found that this particular accident might serve as a caution to those new and repeat visitors to the Magic Kingdom. On Tuesday, February 14th, a 70 year old man fell on the loading conveyor belt while boarding Peter Pan’s Flight and landed in front of an approaching ride vehicle. Cast Members immediately stopped the ride and the man was taken to Orlando Regional Medical … Continue reading

Art of Disney Gallery To Open On Fifth Avenue

Though Mickey Mouse originally debuted in 1928, he has consistantly remained an international icon of not only fun and happiness, but also art. Disney themed art pieces continue to be some of the most sought after pieces of art around the globe. As such, it’s only fitting that Disney take it’s place among the towering buildings were Andy Warhol once painted his own pop rendition of the Mouse that started it all. Opening on February 24th with a gala champagne reception, the gallery will feature high quality pieces that include original paintings, figurines and other objects d’arte. While guests peruse … Continue reading
