Autumn Challenges – Changing Up Your Routine

The change in the seasons is a great time to change up your workout. You may take your workout outside or you may take it indoors because the weather gets wetter or colder where you are. There are a lot of options you can explore when you change your routine and here are a few ways to take advantage of the natural change in the weather to dress up, dress down, invigorate or relax your exercise routine.

  • Get a Library Card – Libraries are great and full of books, newspapers, magazines and video tapes – you can check out – literally – any number of exercise and aerobic video tapes or DVDs. You can check out a new one every week and you’re not spending any money – you can explore the different styles and forms of exercise until you either find one you like or a dozen that you like – for the frugal fitness enthusiast – this is the way to go
  • Employ Your Math Skills – Fractions and division of your body can give you target areas for your daily workouts – you can take a break from the total body workout and focus on your arms one week, your legs the next and your abs the next – this is one way to invigorate your self-interest
  • Involve Yourself with Your Kids – Don’t have time for a gym or a self-workout? Get your kids moving and join them – play ball or other sports with them; pick up a used bike and go out cycling with them; invest in some roller skates or inline skates; go hiking or take parent child fitness classes
  • Go to Boot Camp – Yes, I’m laughing a bit as I write this, but according to Oprah fitness boot camps are all the rage – there are outdoor and indoor boot camps that meet 5 days a week for 4 to 8 weeks. You work your butt off and at the end of it, you’ll see changes in your tone and definition

What are some ways that you can change up your exercise routine for the change in seasons?
