Now that kids are back in school and family vacations are over (at least until the holidays) airlines and hotels are dropping prices in an effort to buffer the blow. Most carriers and resorts take a hit when the busy summer travel season ends so they offer deep discounts to sway customers to travel off-peak.
The following are some promotions you might find appealing enough to take advantage of:
AIRLINES
United Airlines is offering great rates on select flights. The ones I have listed are one-way fares based on travel departing after 7 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2007, or anytime on Saturday, September 15, 2007, and returning anytime on Monday, September 17, 2007 or Tuesday, September 18, 2007.

Los Angeles to San Francisco for $75
New York to Chicago for $104
Seattle to San Francisco for $100
Washington, D.C. to Chicago for $90

RESORTS
September and October are off-peak travel months in Hawaii. To help fill rooms one of the state’s most popular hotels is promoting a “Fall Into Winter” special. Prince Resorts Hawaii is currently offering guest credits and discounted room rates at its properties on Oahu, Maui and the Big Island.
From October 1 to December 22nd, all guests will receive a $150 credit for every three-night stay, which can be applied to a host of on-site amenities, including dining, golf, tennis, and massages.
The properties are also offering a number of discounted room rates. For example:
Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and Golf Club located on the island of Oahu is offering Oceanfront rooms for $219 per night.
Maui Prince Hotel, Makena Resort is offering private ocean-view prime rooms for $308 per night.
Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel located on the Big Island of Hawaii is offering terrace rooms for $295 per night.
