Book: Badge of Honor: Goldtown Adventures #1

Author: Susan K. Marlow

Age Recommendation: 8 to 14

About the Author:

Susan K. Marlow, like Andi, has an imagination that never stops! Whether she’s writing books, teaching writing workshops, or sharing what she’s learned as a homeschooling mom, she’s always on the lookout for a new story. The author of the Circle C Adventures and the Circle C Beginnings, Susan enjoys relaxing on her 14-acre homestead in the great state of Washington.

Book Synopsis:

Twelve-year-old Jeremiah “Jem” Coulter knows that Goldtown, California, has seen the last of the gold rush. But the flecks of gold he and an old prospector, “Strike,” find in their played-out claim on Cripple Creek spur Jem’s hope of striking it rich.

My Thoughts:

I was very excited to see new series by Susan K. Marlow. You may remember Susan K. Marlow as the author of the Circle C Adventures. My seven year old was entranced by the adventures of Andi. We read all of them in record time. So, I knew that if Badge of Honor was only half as good and Jeremiah was only half as lovable as Andi, it would be a house favorite. It appears I aimed too low as the book is not simply half as good but every bit as good. It is so refreshing to read a book that is full of adventure and wholesome. The combination is difficult to find sitting on the bookstore shelves these days. Rest assured, you can place a book in your child’s hands and be confident of the quality and of how much he will enjoy it. Badge of Honor makes a wonderful gift for any young readers on your list who also happen to be cowboys or cowgirls at heart.
