Ballet for Weight Loss

To keep things interesting while you are attempting to whittle your figure down you sometimes need to vary your diet and exercise routine. I do not know how many times I have revamped my diet and exercise program to lose weight, but it was numerous. I did this in order to keep going and not become bored. Had I not done this I probably would have given up a long time ago. Anything to keep things moving is fair game in diet and exercise land in my book. The important thing is to enjoy the exercise that you are doing in order to keep things consistent enough that you do not lose interest. As long as the activity that you are doing is kept fun and interesting you will continue to lose weight through whatever fitness plan that you come up with.

One of the interesting things that I have not tried that recently came to my mind was ballet. I have always thought that in order to practice ballet I would need some type of formal instruction. Although instruction for professional ballet would normally be necessary, thanks to the internet we are really not limited in what types of exercise we would like to practice in the privacy of our home. For fitness and fun we have so many options available to us.

Always on the lookout for something new I am now studying the world of ballet to keep myself from going bonkers while attempting to stay fit.

To be a ballerina or pretend you are one proper body alignment is crucial. You should always concentrate on standing tall with your back straight and tummy in. Your glutes (your buttocks) should be tucked under, your chin tilted upward and neck lengthened.

To get you started go to http://www.uoregon.edu/~wschoute/gallery/balletbasics.htm and learn the basics of ballet for a new fitness workout.

So, go ahead and dance around like a prima ballerina in your kitchen. Nobody is around, go for it. Put some Beethoven on and have fun. You will not be bored anyway.
