Barefoot & Married

Can you get married in bare feet? How serious are you taking your vows? You can be very serious and getting married doesn’t require wearing shoes. In fact, I’ll let you in on a little secret – at my wedding – my shoes were killing me. I ended up kicking them off sometime after the ceremony during the photos but before we arrived at the reception. My dress was more than long enough to cover up my feet and the blisters I had from the shoes.

Beach Weddings

Plenty of weddings held on beaches are more practical in barefeet or sandles because there is so much sand. If you’ve ever tried to walk on the beach in heels, you have probably discovered how hard and impossible that is. So when you get married in barefeet, it’s not a fashion statement or fashion choice that affects what happens in your wedding – it’s what you bring in your heart to your wedding and what you bring in your head – it’s not what is on your feet.

Can I Get Married in Sneakers?

I was asked at one point why not just get married in sneakers? Plenty of women do it if they are wearing long wedding dresses that cover their feet. How many wedding pictures have you seen of ladies in their wedding dresses? How many were wearing shoes that you would recognize? Could you even seen their feet?

This is why during the wedding planning is great to look at your options. Your wedding day is a day that you are going to spend a long time on your feet. There are photographs, the ceremony, the reception, the dancing and the toasting and then the mingling. If you aren’t wearing comfortable shoes, you will have a lot of pain on your wedding night and though I was incredibly fortunate to be able to get a massage in the late part of the day on my wedding day that saved my life (and my feet!) – you may not have that luxury.

So get married in bare feet, sneakers, pumps, flats, sandles or six inch heels – but get married in something comfortable that will love your feet – that way the last thing you are going to be thinking about on your wedding night is your feet.

You’ll appreciate it – trust me.
