You don’t have to spend a lot of money to make your home look nice. Bargains are everywhere; you just need to know where to look.
I have one friend in particular who is great at this. She lives in a large, gorgeous house that they had built. So everything is very new. Her decorating skills are great. Every tine I would see something new, such as a wall hanging, I would ask where she got it and she would reply with something like, “K-Mart.”
Yet everything looked so expensive. However she isn’t spending a lot of money, she knows how to bargain hunt.
I have been getting pretty good at this myself. But the key to bargain hunting is patience. You see something you like but the price tag is a bit hefty. If you don’t show some restraint, you might find yourself plucking down more than you should. But if you are patient, you could find it elsewhere (or something similar…or even something better) at another store.
You simply make note (either in your mind or on a piece of paper), where you saw the item you like and how much it cost. But then you visit a few other stores. There have been times when I was able to show restraint on a particular item and later found it for much less.
Most of us strive to make our homes beautiful but we really don’t have to spend a lot of money. You can find good deals at some of the larger retail stores like Target or Walmart. Or you might find some really good sales at a store like Kohl’s. Even second-hand stores or rummage sales offer opportunities to get a steal.
Be willing to shop around. Be willing to wait. Be willing to bargain hunt.
