Tired of the old bath time routine? Me too! If you need a couple of quick and easy ways to spice of the watery experience, look no further. Here are several exciting ways you can make tub time more enjoyable and memorable tonight!
Take a handful of those simple tea light candles, you know, the ones in those handy round little silver nests that IKEA, Pier 1 and other stores sell by the bag full, and position them safely around the bathroom. Only set the candles in places where they can be seen but not touched by your little bundles of joy. You may be thinking this too much of a romantic idea for a toddler bath, and while candles are typically associated with such close adult encounters they are not the exclusive domain of those in love. Your kids can also relax and unwind in the lights out/candles-lit feel of an evening bath.
For a more immediate and fun reaction, consider adding food coloring to your warm bath water. Just a few drops of blue, red, or green and your kid’s mundane daily tub time turns into an Amazonian adventure or trip to the Moon. Only an active imagination and a touch of color are required to be transported to another land while those little piggys are scrubbed.
My girl’s favorite bath pastime is to have me pretend to sneeze. On its own, it does not sound all that interesting, I know. But add a healthy dose of bubbles in my hand and you will see why she is filled with glee each and every time. My sneezing sends bubbles flying up in the air and falling all around her. There is no way a young child is not cracking up laughing when this idea is executed.
When she was younger, we would position bubbles on her head and let her gaze into a mirror to see how silly she looked. She loved to watch as more and more bubbles were piled up on her noggin and when we would style her hair into a Mohawk and other hilarious hairdos.
Lastly, and maybe most simply, is to provide your child with a cup and allow them to pour water from up on high and watch it splashdown like a waterfall.
Incorporate any of these ideas during your child’s next bath and you are bound to have a merrier time sneaking in the behind-the-ear and under-the-arm washes!
