I realized when I was writing earlier that some of my cautionary articles can come across as big downers! I know that many of us single parents are often dealing with all sorts of changes, trials, and transitions but there are some amazingly positive things that happen as well. As a matter of fact, times of big transition can also bring some big leaps into the future!
I know, I know—it can seem as though you have been slogging and plodding through the mire of change for a long time. You start to wonder if you will ever see the light at the end of the tunnel, or if your load will ever lighten. It will. It does. Our children as well can seem as though they are healing and adjusting for a long time. And yet, it happens—we find ourselves waking one day and feeling great, or a big change happens at work or our child suddenly seems to be getting in the groove again. That big leap from one place or stage into another has happened!
When I hear the word “Leap” it just sounds exciting and freeing—bounding, flying, soaring into the air is the image I get when I think of that “big leap.” All the groundwork we are putting down as we work on putting our lives together and “doing the deal” as we like to say in our family: going to work, helping our children adjust to realities, taking care of our family and ourselves, and focusing on doing what is right and true for us in the present. The pay-off does come and it can come in big soaring bounds. Be ready and anticipate those big leaps that can come when we work our way through a challenging time and our lives are finally on the fly.
