Every week I am going to present some different craft ideas that revolve around a certain theme. This week is Bear Week.
For many children their teddy bear is one of their favorite things. So celebrate teddy bears with some fun bear crafts that you can do with young children.
Chocolate Pudding Bears
Every child loves to finger paint especially when the finger paint tastes good too.
You will need:
Small box of chocolate pudding
1½ cup milk
Picture of a bear
Find a bear clipart, enlarge it to fill an entire sheet of paper, and then print it out. Or if you’re an artist you can draw your own.
Make a box of chocolate pudding using only 1½ cups of milk instead of two. Let the pudding set up in the refrigerator for about five minutes.
Place a few spoonfuls of chocolate pudding on your child’s bear picture. Then let your child finger-paint the bear with the chocolate pudding. It’s a good idea to do this activity while wearing an apron. The leftover pudding can be eaten as a snack.
Polar Bears
Pulling cotton balls helps increase your child’s fine motor skills.
You will need:
Picture of a bear
Cotton balls
Glue
Water
Paintbrush
Cut out the picture of the bear.
Show your child how to use their fingers to pull apart the cotton balls. Once your child has a few cotton balls ready give them the picture of the bear.
Mix a little water with some glue and use the paintbrush to spread glue all over the bear’s body. Then let your little one glue the cotton to their polar bear.
Circle Bears
This is a great activity to help teach your child what a circle is.
You will need:
Brown and black construction paper
Cut out a large brown circle for the head and two smaller circles for the ears. Cut out eyes and a nose from the black.
Then let your child put the shapes together to make a bear face. Don’t worry about them getting it perfect.
