Benefits of Weight Lifting

There are a number of benefits to weight lifting that you might want to implement into your fitness routine. However I also strongly urge you to first make sure that you have established some cardio into your routine first.

Making the transition from cardio to weight training might be a challenge but there is no reason that you can’t have a little of both. You might break up your routine with 15 minutes of cardio and 15 minutes of weight lifting. It’s really all up to you.

One of the things you will notice right off the bat with weight lifting is how sore you feel when you first start doing it. Your muscles aren’t used to the stretching and so it will take some time before they are conditioned to it.

This is why it is so important that you don’t overdo it. Start off slow, nice and easy. Otherwise you run the risk of pulling a muscle and putting yourself out of commission.

Putting all that aside, there really are some benefits to weight lifting. First, like yoga, it can actually help improve your posture. Second, it could potentially help your body begin to feel better instead of always suffering from the usual aches and pains. This is because you are strengthening your core muscles.

A third benefit to weight lifting is that building muscle mass will help you to burn calories. This can be an additional way to lose excess weight, especially when you combine it with some cardio.

Perhaps the greatest benefit however, is that you will feel good. There is just something about getting up and moving that is motivating not only physically but mentally as well.

Don’t worry about going out there and spending a lot of money. If you want to be real creative, you can lift heavy books. However you can also build up your weights by starting with 2 pound weights and over the course of time, adding on with bigger weights.

With all of the benefits to weight lifting, you might want to give it a shot!
