Over half of preschoolers have played with a tablet, iPad or smartphone. This technology is not only taking adults and teens by storm but little ones as well. Applications for these devices are being designed for children as young as babies. Many are educational, engaging, and fun. In moderation, these apps can hold value. Instead of a child watching TV, a child can now interact with the screen and be a part of the game. As with anything balance is key. Make sure your child is playing outdoors and with others and not sitting in front of an iPad or with your smartphone all day.
Fish School
Fish School is an early learning app that focuses on letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. The app is very easy to operate even for a child younger than 3 years of age.
My First Puzzle
No more missing puzzle pieces! Now the puzzles can be done through an application. The child will learn problem solving skills. Your child will enjoy the bells chiming as they place the correct answers and rewards for achievements. The puzzles have a range of difficulty making it a game your child will enjoy for quite some time.
WeetWoo!
This application contains kid friendly and safe YouTube videos for your child to watch. You can set the filter to moderate what is being watched. Videos include Blue’s Clues, Charlie Brown and Sesame Street. This is a nice application for long car drives or waits in the doctor’s office.
Feed Me! Pencilbot Preschool
This is an adorable game for little ones. The child is asked a question and must feed the monster an answer. The app comes with 100 questions. If the child feeds the monster the wrong question he turns green and has a yucky face. Great for some laughs.
