Best Books for Baby

Books open up a new world. The concept is not lost on a baby or toddler. Little ones love to explore through books. I remember when my children were little and would sit and look through board books for what seemed like hours. Having a chubby little hand place the same book in your lap night after night is one of the joys of parenting. Board books are wonderful since they fit nicely in little hands and can stand up to abuse. The selections of board books are growing from classics to beautifully interactive books. I always have a hard time getting rid of board books. They are adorable and my children’s first introduction into reading and enjoying new worlds. If you are looking for some books for your baby or toddler here is a list to help guide you.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by Eric Carle: A wonderful book that will keep your little one’s attention. In time, your child can learn days of the week, counting, and about the life cycle of a butterfly.

Goodnight Moon, by Margaret Miller: A classic that should find its home on every child’s bookshelf. The colors and images are wonderful for infants. The concept of a little bunny saying goodnight to items in his room is adorable. The simplicity is the magic. It also helps your little bunny transition from being awake to going “night night”. I used to have my children say goodnight to objects in their room after reading it. It amazed me how easily they went to sleep afterwards.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? , By Eric Carle: I had this book memorized and would often repeat from memory as my son was drifting off to sleep. Children love animals which makes this book a must have in your collection.

Ten Little Ladybugs, by Melanie Gerth: Three dimensional ladybugs and bright colors make this book a keeper. Little ones love to touch the ladybugs, hear the rhymes, and count with the book as they get older.

Happy Reading!
