Best Gifts for Fitness Enthusiasts

So the holiday shopping days are winding down. You may be wondering what some of the best gifts for fitness enthusiasts are.

One of the things I have read in a number of articles recently is that older people really enjoy Wii Fit. I don’t consider myself to be in the “older” crowd but I concur, Wii Fit is a great way to get your bum off the couch and become active in fun but beneficial types of exercise. Wii Fit offers a number of interactive fitness games, anything from sports to yoga.

But speaking of technology, apparently the iPad is a good choice as well. This is one of those on my “eventually-will-get” lists. I have had my eye on this device for some time but just aren’t ready to fork out the cash.

Why an iPad? There are thousands and thousands of apps available that can do everything from sending you a reminder to get to the gym, to mapping out your running route. There is even apparently a yoga class that you can set up and watch on your iPad, well that is, watch and participate.

Another great gift for fitness enthusiasts is a chip that Adidas and Nike provide where you can put it into your shoe and track your heart rate, along with measuring your run. Apparently there are other types of chips available that can be embedded into other accessories such as armbands.

Clearly technology and fitness go hand-in-hand; however, not everyone is a techie so keep that in mind when considering a gift for a fitness enthusiast. A workout DVD or fancy pedometer may be just fine for some.

The world of fitness is definitely heading into a new direction. There are ways that fitness can be made more exciting and enjoyable. So while you are at it, why not pick up something for yourself to make your fitness routine even better?
