Beyonce Warns Against the Maple Syrup Diet

“I’m very conscious of being a curvy woman and I’m very happy that I am a curvy woman. I would never recommend it to anyone unless you are doing a movie and it’s necessary, and you have proper help” Beyonce said.

”As soon as it was over, I gained the weight back.” Beyonce added.

Celebrities are known to go to extremes to fit a role. Beyonce lost 20 pounds in a short amount of time for a movie role. Christian Bale lost over 60 pounds for his role in The Machinist. Robert De Niro gained 60 pounds for Raging Bull. Charlize Theron gained 30 pounds for Monster. 50 Cent lost 50 pounds for his role as a cancer patient in Things Fall Apart. The list goes on and on. Some say this is part of the job and others say it is going to extremes.

Regardless of what you call it, droves of people want to know what methods the stars use to lose so much weight so fast. People seeking to lose weight are looking for a quick and painless solution. Many are ready to sacrifice eating for liquid diets as if that is easier than making the commitment to live right and work out.

While most have not tried to eat only tuna and 120 calories a day like Christian Bale, many are flocking to the Maple Syrup/Lemonade Diet that Beyonce went on for her role in Dreamgirls. Is this safe? Is this what we have become?

”As soon as it was over, I gained the weight back.” Beyonce added.

Think about the above statement.

Think about this statement:

“At the wrap party the day after filming they had these cupcakes and I ate about twelve. After that I ate waffles, fried chicken, cheeseburgers, french fries, everything I could find. That was the best time of my life. I’ve gained twelve pounds.” Reported Beyonce.

We are not actors playing a role. We are not a character. We are real people, flesh and blood. Yes, we are often desperate to fit a mold. Being overweight feels bad and many say looks bad. Some are driven to depression while others are driven to harmful diets in a drastic attempt to lose weight as if their life depended on it. Well, your life does depend on it. Your life depends on how you choose to handle your weight loss. Losing weight is never so important that you should compromise your health and well being. You are not Beyonce who was constantly being monitored for issues.

Let’s think logically about the Beyonce Diet. The diet consists of drinking a mix of maple syrup, lemons, water and cayenne pepper 8-12 times a day for 10 days. Think you can do it longer? Health experts say that if one attempts it she will most assuredly end up in the hospital. The problem is not what the diet contains it’s what is missing. The diet has no fat, protein, vitamins or minerals. The diet is basically sugar and water. Do you think it would be healthy to live on sugar and water?

The diet is not without side effects which are the same for many crash or extreme diets which include:

Dizziness

Fainting

Loss of Muscle Mass

Lowered Metabolism (which will led you to a life long struggle)

Delirium

Is this means to an end worth it? With all the love in my heart I want to express to you that if this seems worth it than you need to fix the pain in your heart and not the fat on your hips. True joy is a one size fits all state of being. I understand the temptation to lose weight quickly. I wish I could recommend this diet and say I have seen results. However, I am happy to keep my 20 pounds just where they are before I will sacrifice my health. We have too many people depending on us to fall for these types of diets. Together we will fight this long battle and see victory for the long term.
