The rumors are NOT true. Despite, reports made by TV’s “Entertainment Tonight” last week Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are not the proud parents of newborn twin daughters.
The TV show reported Friday that Jolie had delivered “two healthy daughters named Isla Marcheline and Amelie Jane.” Within hours rival news organizations shot the story down and by the end of the day Pitt’s manager released a statement that said the “ET” story was not true.
(By the way producers at “Entertainment Tonight” say they are sticking by their story.)
There’s no question that the birth of Brangelina’s babes is a huge deal for entertainment publications and TV shows.
Speaking about the pending arrival of the newest Jolie-Pitt, the editor in chief of OK! magazine recently said: “Essentially you have two of the most beautiful, famous people in the world. We’ve all seen they’ve had one baby, Shiloh, and it is the coolest, most adorable baby on the planet. And this time they’re having two? It can’t get any better.”
So just how much are publications like OK! magazine willing to fork over to obtain the first pics of Brangelina’s double blessing?
Rumor has it the number exceeds $10 million.
According to reports, a handful of America’s biggest magazines have launched a bidding war over the first photograph of Jolie and Pitt’s twins, and are willing to pay up to $15 million for the exclusive shots.
Though, TMZ.com is reporting that People and OK! magazines are the only who are serious contenders for the first snaps.
A spokesman for People recently said, “We’d love to see the photos in People. We wish the family well.”
Translation: We will sell our staff member’s newborns to pay for those pics.
Likewise, OK!‘s representative admitted that the publication would be “foolish” not to bid as much as humanly possible for the photos.
Fifteen million dollars for a single photograph? Even if they land four pictures for that amount of money I still cannot wrap my mind around that figure.
Sure, Jolie and Pitt will likely donate any profit they make off their newborns to charity much like they did in 2006 when they sold the first pictures of daughter Shiloh to a distributor. Back then People magazine paid more than $4.1 million for the North American rights, while British magazine Hello! obtained the international rights for $3.5 million. Jolie and Pitt then donated the $7.6 million to an undisclosed charity.
Admirable, but still crazy to think that a single photo can generate more than what most Americans make in 10 lifetimes.
Do you agree?
