Big Sister

Since joining our family our daughter has been a big sister four times and a little sister twice. My toddler loves being a big sister.

Giggles was a great little sister because she was just learning how to do things and interacted well with Jessie. My mom bought both girls matching jammies, but Giggles did not get to wear her Little Sister pajamas before she left our family.

Wiggles was older than Giggles, and still in that first learning stage. She was in our home only a week, but Jessie was able to play with her and help her with eating and drinking. Wiggles was starting to stand holding on and crawl a little, so Jessie encouraged that. Wiggles was babbling a little and the girls would talk.

Our latest placement joined our family the day after she was born. Jessie was one of the first people to hold the very tiny Baby E. Jessie was very good about sitting still with her back on the back of the couch. She held Baby E gently and patted her while shushing.

Now Jessie wants to hold the baby all the time. When I tell Jessie that Baby E is asleep and she has to wait for the baby to wake up to play, Jessie cups her mouth and says, “Wake up.” It’s really cute.

Jessie has become a pro at feeding the baby her bottle and making sure she’s sleeping comfortably. She looks on in concern when Baby E is unhappy in the car. Jessie uses the changing table and swipes the preemie diapers for her dolls. My toddler is quite the little mommy and it’s sweet to see. I cannot wait for Baby E to get big enough to be interested in toys so Jessie can show her the good ones.
