One of the arguments I’ve always heard against the existence of Bigfoot is “Well, if he does exist, why hasn’t anyone ever come across a body?” What is someone DID come across a Bigfoot body?
Two Georgia men are claiming to have found the body of a Bigfoot while hiking in a northern region of the state. Matthew Whitton, a police officer, and Rick Dyer, a former correctional officer, said they did not intentionally go out looking for Bigfoot, but stumbled across the body in early June. The half ape, half human remains they retrieved measures 7 feet 7 inches and weighs 500 pounds. They have released a photo of the creature (which can be seen in this video – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z76h6ltDh2c) and also showed reporters video stills of three more living creatures they claimed to have seen at the same time.
Of course, there are skeptics. Scientists at local colleges have said it seems unlikely that something that big could have existed in woods that are frequented by hikers and hunters without being discovered sooner. Some say the photo of the Bigfoot in a freezer matches a Bigfoot costume that is widely available. Then, there is the fact that they men held a press conference this week with self-described Bigfoot hunter Tom Biscardi (http://www.searchingforbigfoot.com/), who promoted a Bigfoot discovery in 1995, which turned out to be fake. There are also videos on Youtube of Whitton’s brother posing as a scientist and one where Whitton seems to admit that the body is a fake. He claims, “We still have a corpse. We just wanted to give you something to do for the weekend.”
So, the question is – where is the body? The guys say they gave it to Biscardi, who has it at an undisclosed location while waiting for scientists to examine it. Biscardi claims he has examined the body and it is not a costume. The men also won’t release the exact location where the Bigfoot was found, for fear of the others being harmed.
Sightings of Bigfoot date back to the 1800s, with the most famous “sighting” being the Patterson film from 1967. You’ve probably seen it – it looks like a Bigfoot walking through the woods, then he briefly looks at the camera, and then walks away. Many claim the film merely looks like a guy in an ape suit.
I guess we will have to wait to see what, if anything comes of the Whitton/Dyer discovery.
