Meet Bill Zadick
The son of Bob and Toni Zadick, he attended Great Falls High School (Great Falls, Montana) where he was coached by Tim Owens and became a four-time state champion (1988-91). While attending Iowa, he was a three-time NCAA All-American as well as an NCAA champion in 1996. Bill has and two sisters, Maryanne and Terri as well as a brother, Mike, who is also a wrestler at the international level. Together the duo became the first set of brothers since 1995 to make a World or Olympic Team. Currently Bill is a resident in training at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bill enjoys outdoor activities, particularly horseback riding.
Why Root for Him?
Bill Zadick currently sits at No. 5 in the U.S. for 2007-08 in the 66kg division. After a strong 2006 season in which Bill earned a gold at the World Championships and a World Team Trials Championships as well as a silver in the U.S. Nationals, he followed those performances winning a bronze medal at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The gold medal at the World Championships proved extremely impressive as he became the first American since 1999 to win a World title in men’s freestyle. Bill will try to make it to his first Olympic Games after finishing seventh at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in 2004.
