When Jessie came to us I had a Lavender Lab in her crib for the soothing scents. The lab cuddled a blue satin blanket. Jessie started snuggling up to the dog because of the blanket. Eventually the blanket came completely off the dog and turned into Blanket that went everywhere with Jessie.
The first time Jessie lost Blanket, I think she cleverly put it in the trash without understanding the repercussions of doing that. We wouldn’t have noticed as more trash got piled on it and then got taken out. Thankfully I had another Lavender Lab because I had needed one for each crib so we didn’t have a lot of unhappy panicked time. The second time Jessie lost Blanket she dropped it in the parking lot of a restaurant and I didn’t notice until we were leaving after we were done. It was not in the restaurant and it was not in the parking lot; it was gone. I did not have a backup and had to spend almost as much in shipping as the toy cost to get it overnighted to us.
After Jessie turned one she and I flew to California to spend Thanksgiving with my family. While there we went to the Los Angeles zoo. I picked out a stuffed white tiger for her. I don’t remember when Jessie started carrying Tiger around with Blanket. Just recently she dropped Tiger on the way into a store. She was walking in front of me, so I don’t know how I didn’t see it. We didn’t find it when we backtracked. I knew she would be beside herself at bedtime and didn’t know if I could find a replacement at the Zoo’s website. Thank goodness the cart guy found it and the greeter had it waiting for us on our way out. What a relief.
