Great news for members of Blockbuster Online! Blockbuster has just announced their Total Access program. Total Access means that those movies that come in the mail can now be returned at your local Blockbuster (check BlockbusterOnline.com to make sure your local store has changed over to Total Access). As a reward for turning in your movie (in its envelope) to the store, you can rent any movie on the shelf. One great advantage to this is that a movie which shows up in your queue as having a long wait time may be available right now in the store.
But the best news is that those free movies from the store won’t affect your queue. Even with the least expensive plan ($9.99/mo), you can end up with more than the one movie out at a time when you return them to the store. For us, the extra $8/mo has been well worth it to have three out at a time instead of the cheaper one-out plan. Blockbuster has a lot of classic and educational movies in their database, and we use them for school, enrichment, and scouting, as well as enjoyment. Educational videos average $29.99. That’s almost two months of premium Blockbuster Online fees. And you can rent it as many times as you like. No worries about storage, either.
Our family has been averaging about 15-20 movies per month for several years now, and we have been completely pleased with their service. That service has generally taken two days from the time we mail one CD before we’ve receive another. With the new Total Access, the movie is considered “received” when the local store logs it in, and that time seems to be cut in half – with double the rentals as well. It’s a deal that families who enjoy movies will find very difficult to beat anywhere else.
Right now there’s a free trial available at Blockbuster. For free, you have nothing to lose! And family movie nights to gain!
