A Brilliant Idea: Brilliant Sky Toys and Books

Do you remember the days when visiting a toy store was like an adventure? It was a trip through imagination and play that inspired you to learn and create through fun and exploration. The sales people had an inherent affinity for play and friendly faces ready to help you find the right toy for you. Try and remember when toys were not about promoting media but promoting cognitive and emotional development. I used to love strolling through bright and colorful toy stores that were filled with unique items that provided hours worth of play. Stores like that may be rare but you can still find that adventure at Brilliant Sky Toys and Books.

Brilliant Sky Toys and Books is the creation of Brent and Sonia Taylor. Brent has a corporate background while Sonia is a registered nurse. However, what makes their background come to life is the fact they are also parents. Parents who wanted to keep wonder alive in their kids and in the lives of other children. They understand that toys should inspire hours of imaginative play on an active and interactive level to development curious minds. Toys were never meant to be advertising for major motion pictures or corporations. Toys are a gateway to learning and exploration. If you are looking for items that will truly inspire play and wonder then you may visit a Brilliant Sky Store near you. The specialty toy store is based in Okemos, Michigan; however the chain stretches from North Carolina to Colorado with 15 stores in towns like Des Moines, IA; Nashville, TN and Louisville, KY. If you do not have a store near you then you have the option of shopping online. You can also look into starting your own franchise.

I want to share with you three toys that I own from Brilliant Sky Toys and Books. It will give you a taste of the amazing products you will find this Christmas for your child.

Boogie Board: The Boogie Board is a paperless drawing toy that you can take anywhere. Using the stylus provided, you can create drawings, take notes, make a list, or play games while traveling. When you are finished you simply click a button and it erases. The age recommendation is 8 and up. Believe me; if you buy one of your kids you will want one for yourself.

Master Kitz Water Lilies: Do you have a budding artist in your family? Master Kitz allows your child to re-create a famous work of art. The kit comes with all you need such as paper, stencils, paint, shammy for color blending, instructions, and history of the work of art you are re-creating. Master Kitz is a perfect item to reinforce your art history lesson or for fun. The results are so adorable you can frame it and hang it on your wall.

Elenco’s Snap Circuits Light: My kids love this so much that one is using it for our homeschool co-op’s science fair. You may have seen snap circuit items before but this one focuses on amazing light shows which includes lights that change to the beat of music by connecting your iPod or MP3 player. The glow in the dark flying fan is a huge favorite and simple to make. The set has over 175 projects. The best part is it encouraged my seven year old to create her own circuit projects.

I am having just as much fun with these items as the kids. There are so many wonderful toys that break from the imagination stealers of many of the toys today. My readers know by now that I have a passion for toys that are educational and fun because I believe they are the first steps of exploration into a big world. This is why I have the Brilliant Sky Toys and Book iPhone app and a Christmas list already filled out for each of my kids.
