The first Christmas together as a couple is always special, but even if you’ve been married for a while, and have spent a few or even many holidays together, these ideas might just inspire some new traditions.
Special Gift
Choose a special gift for each other, something small but especially thoughtful, and set aside a few moments on Christmas Eve for just the two of you. Open your gifts and enjoy the time together.
Christmas Toast
Pick out a set of champagne or wine glasses together. If you can find a Christmas set, that’s even better. You can also decorate a pair of glasses. Use glass paint, tie a ribbon to the stem, or find holiday wineglass charms. Each year, on Christmas Eve (or whenever you decide) drink a toast to another happy holiday together. Sparkling cider or ginger ale makes a great toast, if you choose not to indulge in wine or champagne.

Midnight Treat
Stay up until midnight on Christmas Eve and celebrate together the moment it becomes Christmas. Share a toast or a decadent little treat together.
Romantic Meal
Plan a romantic meal for two. If you have kids, wait until they are tucked in for the night. Light some candles. Cook together and feed each other. Choose your and your spouses favorite foods, even if they don’t really “go” together. It doesn’t have to be a conventional meal, just items that you both enjoy.
Light a Candle
Purchase a special candle and light it together each Christmas Eve. Snuggle in the candlelight and enjoy a few quiet moments together.

Choose a Special Song or a Movie
Pick out a special Christmas song or love song and incorporate it into your holiday celebration each year. Or, pick out a great holiday movie and make watching it together a new tradition.
