The Newest Addition to the Food Network Family

If you watch the Food Network you know that chef Paula Deen loves cooking, eating, and entertaining. But, viewers also know that all of that takes a backseat to her beloved boys. Her two sons are the light of her life and now Paula has one more boy to smother in gravy kisses—her new grandson Jack Linton Deen.

PEOPLE Magazine reports that Paula’s son Jamie Deen and his wife Brooke have become first-time parents to their new bundle of joy. According to the magazine, baby Jack was born Monday in the Savannah, Georgia, and weighed in 6 lbs., 9oz.

“He’s got his mama’s lips and beautiful olive skin and his daddy’s big head,” says Jamie, who costars with his brother Bobby Deen on the Food Network’s Road Tasted. “He smiled yesterday and has a face full of dimples like his dad. It might be a birth defect, but when he’s 16 years old it will work for him.”

Grandma Paula couldn’t be happier by the new addition. In fact, Jaime tells the magazine that his mother has been asking for a grandchild repeatedly since his wedding to Brooke in March 2005. “Mama signed our wedding registry with ‘Are you pregnant yet?'” Deen tells PEOPLE.

In the magazine Jamie jokes, “instead of a silver spoon in his mouth, baby Jack was born with a spatula in his hand.” He goes on to say that grandma Paula is already stocking the future chef’s kitchen. “I think mom already has a cook set, a little frying pan and mixing bowl for him,” says Jamie. “She’ll probably teach him to make cornbread first thing.”

Like millions of others, I am a regular viewer of Paula Deen’s cooking show. I see the way she devours her trademark ooey gooey butter cakes, I can’t imagine what she’s going to do with a baby who is infinitely sweeter.
