Kitchen Organizing for the Holidays

Organizing your Kitchen for the Holidays | Families.com

The fall is a great time to start thinking about the holidays, which are really just around the corner. I promise you, they will be here before you know it.

So why not take some time this month to start prepping your kitchen? By cleaning and organizing it now, you will have a head start and prevent future stress.

It’s actually a great time to organize your cabinets. Focus on one or two each weekend. But while you are doing that, you should also start keeping an inventory of what you have and what you need.

For instance, if you are a baker during the holidays, you might have noticed that you are running low on sugar. Make note of that. Write down all of the items or kitchen supplies that will be needed later on.

The best thing about this is you can start purchasing some of those things now. You start to build up your baking supplies so that you are spreading out the costs and not having to purchase them all at one time.

With cleaning out your cabinets, you might remember that last year it was hard to find the spices, canned foods or boxed foods you needed. Take advantage of the opportunity now to purchase a cabinet organizer.

You should also make sure everything is grouped together. Keep all of your baking supplies in one area. Keep the pots and pans in another, and so on.

The fall is also the perfect time to swap supplies. I have a small kitchen, so I have to pack away items that I don’t use during the summer, like my crockpot. It might be time to put away those things you use during the warmer months and break out the tools and kitchen appliances you use during the colder months.

Planning now can make your holidays much more enjoyable later on.
