Blossom is a cute little white rabbit, and her very best friend is Boo, a brown bear cub. Every day they meet to play together in the woods. In the summer, they like to go exploring and make each other daisy chains. They skip stones in the stream, causing splashes and ripples.
In the fall, they go berry picking and have picnics. When Blossom falls down and hurts her paw, Boo is right there to make her feel better. Blossom repays him by giving him some of her berries when the mice steal his. Sure enough, Blossom and Boo are best friends – they even know how to treat each other kindly.
As the autumn comes to an end, Boo is sad. He explains to Blossom that soon, he’ll have to go into hibernation. She’s never heard that long word, so he explains that it means he’ll go to sleep for a long time, and won’t be able to play. They promise to stay best friends, even though they won’t see each other for a while.
Night starts to come earlier, and the friends watch the moon come up. Blossom has always been scared of the dark, but sitting there with her best friend, looking at the moon, she’s not so scared anymore.
One morning, Boo didn’t come to play, and Blossom knew he was sleeping. She was lonely that winter, but every time she started to feel sad, she thought about the moon, and her hurt paw, and picking berries, and all the things the two friends had done together, and then she wasn’t sad any more. And, in the spring when Boo woke up, he ran out to find Blossom, and they went and did all their favorite things together, all over again.
A sweet little story for younger listeners, you’ll enjoy “Blossom and Boo.”
