The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the body of the boy found in an SUV earlier today is in fact that of 7-year-old Julian King.
Reports also say that Jennifer Hudson was the one who went to the Medical Examiner’s office to identify the boy’s remains less than an hour ago. The sad task of identifying her mother and brother’s bodies on Friday also fell to the Oscar winner, according to news reports.
As if this tragic story couldn’t get more gut-wrenching, police are now releasing information on how the young boy died. A top FBI official told reporters that King suffered at least one gunshot to the head. Meanwhile, the Chicago Tribune is reporting that the murdered boy was shot multiple times in various parts of his body while in the back of the vehicle, which police discovered earlier today less than 15 miles from the house where Hudson’s mother and brother were gunned down.
The paper says police are in the process of testing the clothing of the suspect in custody—-William Balfour (the estranged husband of Hudson’s sister Julia and Julian’s mother)–for gunshot residue.
Police are also scouring the SUV in which King’s body was recovered for additional evidence. The vehicle, which is believed to be that of Hudson’s dead brother, is now considered a key piece of evidence and could possibly shed light on the timeline of events that occurred after the initial shootings took place.
An interesting note about the white SUV: a neighbor who lives a block away from where the vehicle was discovered came forth during a police press conference earlier today to say that he remembers seeing the SUV parked on the side of the road on Saturday. The man also reportedly told reporters that he called the police that same day but no one responded. The problem is that two other neighbors told Chicago news reporters that they are positive the SUV was not there on Saturday. If those two neighbors are to be believed that would mean someone other than Balfour parked the SUV there since Balfour was arrested Friday night.
