It seems as if there may be no good news at all in the case of the Jennifer Hudson family attack. After the Oscar winning actress’ mother Darnell and brother Jason were found shot to death in their home on Friday, authorities announced that her seven year old nephew Julian was missing from the South Side home in Chicago. Police put out an Amber Alert for Julian, saying that it was believed the child may have been taken away in a white Suburban SUV with the license plate number X584859.
Jennifer, who had to identify both the bodies of her mother and brother, offered a $100,000 reward for information about Julian. She posted on her MySpace page “Please keep praying for our family and that we get Julian King back home safely.” Hudson’s sister, Julia, also issued a plea for Julian’s safe return, saying “My greatest fear has already happened, my greatest hope is for having my child. I just want my son. That’s all I have to say. Just let my baby go.” Even presidential candidate and fellow Chicagoan Barack Obama commented on the tragic story, issuing a statement that said he and wife Michelle were praying for Julian’s safe return.
Howver, today, the police located an abandoned white SUV fourteen miles from the scene of the crime that contained a child’s body. Deputy Police Chief Wayne Gulliford didn’t offer any other details and it’s doubtful we will know much until a positive identification of the body can be made.
While it is still unclear who shot Hudson’s mother and brother and took young Julian, the police do have Julia’s estranged husband, William Balfour, in custody. Balfour’s mother Michele has said there is no way her son could have done this “heinous crime.” But, Balfour is a parolee who spent almost seven years in prison for attempted murder, vehicular hijacking, and possession of a stolen car.
