How Many Apples Up on Top?: Here is a great printable for this activity. On each card is a picture of a child with apples on top of her head. On the bottom edge of the card are three numbers. Your child is to clip a clothespin on the correct number as the amount of apples on the card.
Counting to Ten: Using apple cut outs purchased from an educational store or making some on your own, mark the apples one to ten, and then have your child put them in numerical order.
And now how many apples: Make small apples out of construction paper or print out some from online. Place ten apples in front of your child. Then remove one and ask how many are left. Keep going until there are no apples left. As your child improves her understanding of subtraction you can extend the challenge. Ask your child how many apples are left if you remove three or five.
