Want a cute little addicting game that is very relaxing to play? Try this free little gem that can be played online.
I first came across Boomshine from the Bored.com website. (If you aren’t familiar with Bored.com, you can click here to learn all about it: Bored.com.) It looked interesting, so I decided to try it out.
The object of the game is to blow up or “boom” pretty little colored dots. Don’t worry, there is no violence in this game, just a very pretty and soothing piano music track that blends so nicely with the visuals and strategy of the game.
The trick to achieving your goal is to strategically place a “boom” that explodes out in a circle. If other dots wander in to the circle, they boom, too. Depending on where you place your shot, you can set off a set of chain reactions that will boom other dots. And you better make your shot a good one, because you only get one shot per level or attempt. Make your shot and then sit back and watch. The booms only last for a few seconds before they shrink back and disappear.
You might think that with one shot, the pace would be very slow, but the game is surprisingly addictive. There are definite strategies to employ, as you try to predict the density and the path of the wandering dots. Part of the fun frustration is watching a wayward dot on its way to one of your booms, only to miss by a pixel as the boom shrinks back.
As I mentioned before, the dots are very pretty, especially when the booms overlap and form mixed colors and interesting patterns.
Boomshine was created in Flash by Danny Miller and features music by Tim Halbert. To try this game for yourself, visit http://www.k2xl.com/games/boomshine/
