If you find that losing weight hasn’t come as easily as you would like, or that you are like a yo-yo, with your weight going up and down…then you should take into consideration how your metabolism may be playing into it.
In fact, it may seem like you are doing all the right stuff. You are eating right, exercising, yet progress seems to be slow-going.
Sometimes when a person has changed their diet, the body will react with a slowdown in your metabolism. It is almost as if your body feels that it is being starved (even if you really aren’t), so it has to protect itself somehow.
This can not only affect your ability (or lack of) to lose weight but it can make you feel tired, hungrier, and have less energy. So what is the answer? Well, you have to boost your metabolism.
One of the mistakes that many people make is they think they have to eat less, when the weight doesn’t seem to be coming off. Actually, that could be your real problem that you aren’t eating enough. Starvation is not a way to lose weight.
Your body will definitely go into protective mode if you try to starve it. So don’t think that is the answer. In fact, it may be that you actually need to increase your food intake (of course, with only healthy choices). It is recommended that you eat several, small meals throughout the day.
You also want to make sure that you are exercising on a regular basis. If you are on-again, off-again with your fitness routine, it will not help long-term. So keep up a regular exercise program, at least 5 days a week, 30 minutes a day.
You also want to keep things balanced between cardio and weight training. Don’t just focus on one but incorporate both into your fitness routine.
