Former ‘N Sync hottie (and onetime aspiring cosmonaut) Lance Bass has a new gig—–book author. Apparently, the heartthrob is making like Jenna Bush and penning a new book, but unlike the first daughter’s foray into the literary world, Bass plans to make his a tell all.
According to news reports, the 27-year-old plans to reveal “all about his life, his music and his sexuality.” The memoir, entitled, Out of Sync, will hit stores in October. But, for those of you who can’t wait that long the book’s publisher provided a sneak peak of what will be covered in the pages.
A spokesperson for Simon & Schuster said Bass intends to tell readers about his “childhood in small-town Mississippi, his experiences as a member of the hugely popular boy band, and his four months in Russia training to be a cosmonaut on a space mission.” (Ah, yes, Bass’s lofty dream to blast off into outer space—how could we have forgotten that headline? By the way, Bass’s dream to orbit the moon never came to fruition because he lacked the money to finish the training.)
The book’s publisher also promised that Bass will detail his life as a gay man, including “his struggle to keep his sexuality hidden from fans and his decision to come out of the closet on the cover of PEOPLE magazine in July.” I read the PEOPLE article when it first appeared and learned with the rest of America that Bass chose not to reveal his sexuality earlier because he didn’t want to affect ‘N Sync’s popularity. In the years since the boy band broke up, Bass has reportedly spent more time focusing on his personal life than his musical one.
Speaking of new gigs…
Like Bass, CNN Headline News talk-show host Nancy Grace is adding a new line to her resume. According to news reports, she’s taking on her first prime-time acting role, and by the sounds of it, it shouldn’t be a stretch for her.
Grace will appear on the season finale of NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU” offering fictitious legal commentary. According to show producers, Grace will talk about a case involving a man charged with killing a woman and her baby.
And, surprise, surprise. Guess who will be appearing as one of Grace’s co-stars in the episode? None other than ex-“View” co-host Star Jones Reynolds (what better way to promote her new Court TV show), who will also be seen giving legal commentary.
