“Brady Bunch” Star Dies and Britney Returns to the Land of the Living

He was best known in my family as Alice’s butcher boyfriend on “The Brady Bunch,” but you might remember Allan Melvin as Archie Bunker’s neighbor on “All in the Family.”

Regardless of his previous roles, family, friends and fans of Melvin are mourning his loss. According to the Los Angeles Times, the sitcom star died late last week from cancer. He was 84.

In addition to his roles on “The Brady Bunch,” “All in the Family” and “The Andy Griffith Show,” Melvin was also the voice of Bluto on the Popeye cartoon and Hanna Barbera’s Magilla Gorilla. He also played bit parts on “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and “Gomer Pyle.”

According to the paper, Melvin’s funeral will be private.

BRITNEY RETURNS TO THE LAND OF THE LIVING

Stop the presses! Britney Spears is actually making an attempt to get her children back. Or at least that is what appears to be happening this afternoon.

CNN is reporting that after spending a weekend displaying bizarre behavior (riding around L.A. wearing a pink wig and scaring people with her British accent), which has some suggesting the derailed pop tart is suffering from dissociative identity disorder (formerly known as multiple personality disorder) it appears as though the mother of two has been able to get her act together… at least temporarily.

Just a few hours ago news crews caught Spears arriving at the Los Angeles office of her ex-husband Kevin Federline’s lawyer for an ongoing deposition in their custody battle.

If you’ve been watching this torrid tale unfold then you know this is the same court-ordered deposition the custody-less singer has missed several times before. During the session Spears will reportedly be grilled about her past drug and alcohol use, her apparent failure to follow court orders and other matters pertaining to her parenting skills.

Hopefully this appointment will go better than the last one that took place on January 3rd. That was the fateful day when Spears showed up 90 minutes late and was deposed for a mere 14 minutes. Following her questioning by K-Fed’s attorney, Ms. Meltdown caused mass hysteria in L.A. when she initiated a four-hour standoff with police, ending with her lockdown in the pysch ward at a local hospital.

It’s been exactly one week since Spears lost all visitation rights to sons Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1. Deposition or not, I highly doubt the situation will change any time soon.
