Forgive me if I’m the last to jump onboard the Tom Brady Baby Blues Bandwagon.
I have a hard time feeling sorry for the NFL star who was reportedly shedding tears of sadness as he left the maternity ward of an L.A. hospital last week. You’ll recall that it was exactly a week ago yesterday that Brady’s ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan gave birth to their son John Edward Thomas Moynahan.
Shortly after the baby’s arrival reps for both parents sent out cheery statements to the media saying that Bridget was “very pleased” that Tom was able to skip practice in Massachusetts and fly cross country to “be there for the birth and spend a few days with their new child.”
Yeah right.
US Weekly is now reporting that the mood wasn’t exactly as bright as each stars’ publicists tried to spin it. Witnesses at the hospital where the baby was born told the magazine that the mood in Moynahan’s hospital suite in the hours and days after John’s birth was anything but happy. According to one witness, “the mood was very somber.”
Friends of Moynahan add that Brady neglected his baby’s mother (whom he dumped in December after nearly three years of dating) for much of her pregnancy. Instead, the beefy football star chose to globetrot with his current supermodel girlfriend Gisele Bundchen whom he started dating a couple of weeks after splitting with Moynahan.
Sources tell US Weekly that Moynahan “is very bitter” and “wants nothing to do with Tom.” (Can you blame her?) Now, here’s the part that gets me. According to the magazine, the New England Patriots quarterback became visibly upset as he left the maternity ward at 9:45 p.m. last Wednesday. One witness at the hospital said Moynahan’s father made a phone call in the waiting room and reportedly told the person on the line that Brady “fell in love with the baby and didn’t want to leave.” However, the baby’s mom didn’t want Brady sticking around as she recovered from her c-section.
Another source added: “I felt so bad for Tom because he was upset.”
Oh please, let’s review the facts in this case.
What’s more, even if the tears those eyewitnesses saw were real (cough, hack) they sure didn’t last long. A Boston newspaper shot these photos of Brady and his current flame on the city’s streets shortly after the football star returned from seeing his new son.
He doesn’t look too upset to me.
Do you feel sorry for Brady?
