Brain Teaser Games: Brain String and Cubigami

Game: Brainstring ‘R’

Recommended Ages: 7 and Up

Number of players: one player game

Made by: Recent Toys

About Brainstring ‘R’

The popular Brainstring has been turned inside out! Brainstring Revenge is just as knotty as the original, but features a movable ball with a 360° spin that will have you on the ropes. Twist, turn, stretch and slide the puzzle in all directions to unravel the tightly wound knot. Once the strings are completely separated, the puzzle is solved – no strings attached.

My thoughts:

A refreshing break from the Rubik’s Cube, this game ups the ante with a super modern design and challenging play. I am a huge fan of one player portable games that are not electronic and encourage critical thinking skills. A great game to take on long car rides or any place you have to wait like doctor’s offices and restaurants. I love the challenge and it keeps the kids busy for a long time even if they do solve it.

Game: Cubiugami7

About Cubigami7

Flip tiles up or down to make no fewer than seven cubic shapes. The first few shapes might seem easy to craft but the challenge is to put your 3D vision to the test and find all seven shapes.

My thoughts:

Pickings are slim for one player brain teaser games for children as young as four. I love to encourage a young child to critically think and learn to play on her own. Cubiugami7 is not only a brain teaser for young children it is fun and gives them plenty to think about for a long time. The game is great for encouraging fine motor skills. A child can play it freestyle or challenge herself to solve the shapes provided. I also love that 3 percent of the proceeds go to Autism Speaks.
