Rocker Bret Michaels suffered another health setback this week. He was readmitted to the hospital after suffering numbness on the left side of his body. Doctors called it a “warning stroke” and further tests revealed a hole in his heart. It is not believed that either of these issues is related to his recent brain hemorrhage.
The good news is both conditions are treatable. Michaels’ rep Jann Elias said the rocker was walking and talking and going to rehab daily.
Michaels had hoped to appear on next Sunday’s “Celebrity Apprentice” finale against fellow finalist Holly Robinson Peete. But, doctors are now saying that might not be possible.
Lindsay Lohan says her passport was stolen while in Cannes for the film festival. Unfortunately, that prevented her from returning to Los Angeles today for progress review court hearing. Not amused, the judge issued an arrest warrant for the actress, but that has since been lifted.
Still, Lohan isn’t completely off the hook. She has another hearing set for Monday. Some sources say Lohan may soon find herself wearing an alcohol-monitoring bracelet as well as being required to undergo weekly drug tests.
Metal lost one of its greats this week when Ronnie James Dio died of stomach cancer at the age of 67 on May 16th. The former front man of Rainbow and Black Sabbath, Dio saw success with his own band, Dio, which he formed in 1980. He and Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Vinny Appice regrouped to form Heaven & Hell in 2006.
In 2004, Dio was inducted into the Cortland City Hall of Fame. He made his final public appearance at the Revolver Golden God Awards in April 2010 when he accepted the award for “Best Metal Singer.”
There will be a free, public memorial for Dio in Los Angeles at The Hall of Liberty on May 30th at 2 p.m.
