As the New Year has approached I have noticed several advertisements along the road on huge signs and on the radio. Businesses and vendors are beginning to plan for the 2008 bridal shows.
At first I thought that it was kind of odd to be advertising and hosting a bridal show now. This is typically not the time of year that couples get married (except for Valentine’s Day). Weddings are usually thought to be in the summer during May and June. However, then I realized that this would be the time of year that those brides begin their planning. I assume that many brides-to-be received an engagement ring for Christmas and are all ready to begin attending those January bridal shows!
There are a few bridal shows close enough to my area that I could have attended. Yet I never attended one. My thought was simply on getting married. The small details mattered but I did not stress over the planning.
Therefore, now I have began to wonder what a bridal show really is and what brides get from attending them. Of course I have heard of a few brides who win free honeymoons from going to the show but there has to be much more to it than that!
After doing some research, I have found that the main purpose of a bridal show is to allow the bride a chance to view a variety of wedding services and styles all under one roof. Vendors can compete and brides can compare without running from store to store or location to location.
There are also experts there to help make some decisions and models to wear brides maid dresses, wedding gowns, and tuxedos so brides can get a better view of the attire.
I have also learned much about how to attend a bridal show. Those ideas I will share with you in future articles!
