Dr. David Huxley has just received a package containing a rare dinosaur bone. With this bone, he can complete the skeleton he’s been working on for years, the pinnacle of his career. To top it off, he’s engaged to be married to his assistant, and his life is going splendidly. That is, until he meets Susan Vance, a flighty, carefree heiress who immediately sets her sights on him. Unfortunately for him, this means that she’s going to make his life very complicated.
Susan’s brother has sent their aunt a gift – a tame leopard named Baby who loves music, especially the song “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love, Baby.” Susan is to deliver the leopard to their aunt’s ranch, and she decides that David is just the man to help her. Calling him on the phone and pretending to be in danger, she lures him over to her apartment and cons him into helping her. They take a little drive out into the country, where, unbeknownst to both of them, a man-eating leopard has just escaped from the zoo. This leads to some hysterical moments of David and Susan frantically singing, trying to get the wild leopard under control, having no idea that it’s not their own animal. A wild game hunter comes on the scene, determined to bring home a hunt trophy. Susan tells her aunt that David is mentally ill, and David’s fiancé is about to call off the wedding. And when Susan’s dog gets hold of David’s rare bone, and buries it, David nearly kills Susan and buries her next to the bone.
Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn are at their best in this slap-stick romance. Your sides will ache from laughing as you watch Cary run around in a marabou-trimmed bathrobe, trying to catch the dog. The concluding scene brings it all down with a crash and a kiss. I honestly can’t think of a more entertaining movie for you and your family.
