Some things are better off left unsaid, but in the case of teen parents Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston, so much has already been said it would be pointless to institute a gag order now.
Nice try, Levi.
If you haven’t already heard–in what has to be this year’s biggest NON-newsworthy event–18-year-old Bristol Palin, daughter of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has decided that she is better off without her baby’s daddy in her life.
Translation: Bristol ended her engagement to fiance Levi Johnston.
According to reports, the split took place a few weeks ago. Rumors of a split began circulating shortly after Bristol gave birth to the couple’s 2-month-old son, Tripp. However, official word of the separation came just yesterday.
Levi confirmed to reporters that he was no longer engaged to the governor’s daughter, but added that the split was mutual, and that the rumors on the Internet of why and how were inaccurate.
Shortly after Levi gave his interview to the press, Bristol issued a statement through her mother’s political action committee saying, “Unfortunately, my family has seen many people say and do many things to ‘cash in’ on the Palin name. Sometimes that greed clouds good judgment and the truth.”
Hmmm… obviously there’s no love lost between these two teens.
Then again, was there any love there to begin with?
Friends of the couple say the expectation that Bristol and Levi would wed after the baby was born, and after they completed high school was unrealistic.
“I’m not sure what caused [them to break up] – but it’s common knowledge that they’re done,” a family friend told reporters yesterday.
Despite the split, Levi claims that he still sees his son.
Bristol, meanwhile, is completing supplemental course work and preparing to take her GED. The teen mom told FOX News that she is also considering enrolling in college next fall and studying nursing.
They said it wouldn’t last… and they were right.
So much for Levi’s big plans to live happily ever after with his high school sweetheart… or at least this one.
